 Cherokee County

Tarrant Ranch is located in the city of Bullard. Approximately 30 miles of horse trails weaving through the ranch. It is a paradise for horse-riders. The terrain is sandy and have some rocks on Tractor Mountain. The cost is $8 per horse per day and $5 per rig a night to camp. The ranch is open 24/7 all year. It has primitive camping with a few horse pens. You will need to bring water for your horses.

 Fannin County

Caddo Grassland is located in Honey Grove, . The overnight trail head has 25 campsites, water hookups only, with metal picnic tables, metal fire rings, picket lines with pipe dividers, gravel trailer pads at each site, a horse washing area, potable water, covered pavilion with tables & buffet bar, and restrooms near the pavilion.

Trace Trails is located outside Athens, Texas. It is primitive camping, but has water for horses. There are more than 50 miles of trails. The soil is sandy and mostly free of rocks; shoes/boots are not required for your horse. The trails can be dusty if there has been no rain. Day Ride $8/per person, Nightly Camping Rates per person $7.

Cooper Lake State Park is located in the Sulphur Springs. The Buggy Whip Loop has 12 RV sites that have water, electricity and a bath house. They have tie lines for horses. Fees: $5.00 for day use. $20 per night plus day use fee. Coggins inspection  prior to entering the park. There are 10.55 miles of trails. Terrain is sandy to rocky. Due to the soil conditions the trails are closed when wet. Call the ranger station before you haul.

 

Davy Crockett National Forest. There are two public campgrounds, White Rock Horse camp and Piney Creek Horse Camp.  TbarS, a private campground, located south of Kennard, on HWY 2781.  The horse trails meanders approximately 53 miles through the East Texas pineywoods in the Davy Crockett National Forest. Primitive camping at both sited. TbarS has full hookups with a  NEW restrooms an shower facilities.

Wood 

Angelina National Forest is located in the heart of east Texas. The forest is 153,179-acre that lies in the Neches River Basin and on the north and south shores of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a 114,500-acre lake on the Angelina River formed by the construction of Sam Rayburn Dam in the early 1960's. There are two places to camp for equestrians.

Double Heart Horse Camp which is located on the west side on Sam Rayburn Lake and has 20 miles of marked horse trails.

 Ebenezer Equestrian Park is located in Jasper, on the shore of Sam Rayburn Lake and has trails in the Angelina National Forrest.

 Mineola Nature Preserve is located in Mineola. It has 20 miles of equestrian trails. It has 14 RV sites that have water, electricity, sewer, bath house, and pavilion with kitchen. They have 28 horse pens available and a round pen.
