TETRA - Not Just Another Horse Club

What is TETRA?

TETRA stands for Texas Equestrian Trail Riders Association, a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization formed in 1997 to identify and improve equestrian facilities in Texas.  

 TETRA formed in 1997

  • To promote all phases of trail riding as a family activity;
  • To establish equine trails in Texas,
  • To improve and maintain those trails,
  • To educate the public as the care and conditioning of the horse for trail ac­tivities, environmental responsibilities, 
  • Trail eti­quette and safety;
  • To preserve the love of equine in Texas.

Clin­ics and seminars are offered throughout the year, Texas has attracted visitors and clinicians from across the country.


TETRA Mission Statement

  •  Identify and improve equestrian facilities in Texas parks, promoting expansion into new areas.
  • Continue to improve and extend existing equestrian trails, and open new trails on public lands.
  • Provide documentation of existing equestrian trails in Texas.
  • Promote and develop equestrian-use arrangements with private enterprises.
  • Create a communication network to develop equestrian public awareness.
  • Establish relationships with local, state, and federal trail management groups.
  • Continue to educate public agencies and private landowners about the economic and environmental impact of equestrian activities
